About the Jewish Community Relations Council

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) seeks to promote mutual understanding among all groups in the greater community and to advance democratic pluralism, harmonious relationships, and respect for human dignity and individual rights across religious, racial, and ethnic lines.

Jewish Holiday Calendar

Members of the JCRC recently met with Superintendent Balderas of the 4-J School District to discuss the challenge of scheduling school events during Jewish holidays. The JCRC developed and shared the attached calendar with 4-J.

The Jewish religion celebrates a number of special days of observance. Because these dates occur according to the Jewish calendar, we provide our local school districts with this calendar to help limit scheduling of important school activities on days when many Jewish kids will be absent. Use it as a reference or send to your school!

Refugee Resettlement

Millions of families worldwide are living as refugees, uprooted by war, persecution or natural disaster. A few of these families are finding a new home in Lane County, thanks to a refugee placement program that is spearheaded by a local community task force and coordinated by Catholic Community Services of Lane County. The Jewish Federation is deeply involved in this coalition called the Refugee Resettlement Coalition of Lane County.  The coalition is working with Catholic Community Services to welcome and support the refugee families coming to Lane County.
