Social Services
Our Social Services Program
At the Jewish Federation of Lane County (JFLC), our mission is to build a caring, safe, inclusive, and enduring community. Through our dedicated Social Services department, we offer care designed to reduce isolation, provide critical financial relief, and support physical well-being.
Our services are confidential, relationship-driven, and open to Jewish community members in need of guidance, resources, and care. We are not a crisis agency.
Community Engagement
Fostering connection, culture, and belonging across generations.
Our community engagement programs are intentionally designed to create meaningful social and educational interactions, rooted in culture and shared celebration.
-
Senior Luncheon Series:Held throughout the year to coincide with major Jewish holidays, our luncheons bring seniors together to enjoy traditional food, share memories, and build new relationships through facilitated activities and holiday-themed learning.
-
Mini-Schmoozes: Informal gatherings featuring guest speakers, activities, and light refreshments.
-
Volunteer & Intergenerational Programming:We mobilize dedicated community volunteers and partner with local organizations like Oregon Hillel to build supportive networks that bridge generations.
Financial Aid & Client Assistance
Compassionate, short-term support during times of hardship.
When unexpected challenges arise, JFLC is here to help you navigate them. Our Social Services Coordinator provides confidential case management, intakes, and needs assessments to help vulnerable individuals and families regain stability and access essential resources.
-
Emergency Financial Relief: Limited emergency funding is available to assist eligible individuals facing temporary crises, such as housing insecurity, utility disruptions, or unexpected medical costs.
-
Resource Navigation & Advocacy: We provide direct assistance in navigating local, state, and federal aid programs, connecting you to crucial medical, emotional, and social support networks.
-
Basic Necessities: Helping clients secure food assistance and other essential daily supplies to promote self-sufficiency.
Please note: Our services focus on case management and resource connection; we do not provide formal therapy or crisis/emergency psychiatric services

Testimonials
“I was bringing my elderly mother to live in Eugene and had no idea where to look for the best care options. They directed me to the right resources and supported us during the transition.”
“When my husband was diagnosed with cancer, I was so scared and confused. I didn’t know what the children and I were going to do. A caring person from Jewish Family Services helped me to organize my life and get through the difficult times.”
“I really love being a mother, but after my second child, Stephen was born there were days I felt overwhelmed and exhausted. Having an understanding person to talk to on a bad day helped me feel better about myself and to be a better parent.”
“With the help of Jewish Family Services, Dad was able to meet with others in the community. He stayed a lot sharper and didn’t suffer the mental deterioration you sometimes see when people are isolated in their homes.”
